Next Level Technician is urgently hiring a Security Design Engineer for a full-time opportunity in Richmond, VA.

Security Design Engineers at Next Level Technician will be working at a variety of Commercial and Industrial sites. These sites can include schools, hospitals, offices, retail stores, and industrial plants and warehouses. Each site and scope of work will be unique and add to the skillset and knowledge of the Design Engineer!

Responsibilities:
  • System Design & Engineering: Designing, estimating, and configuring enterprise-level security systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and intercoms.
  • Technical Documentation: Creating technical drawing packages, sequences of operations, bills of materials, network layouts, and electrical requirements.
  • Integration & Configuration: Ensuring seamless integration of various security subsystems.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborating with project teams, subcontractors, and customers to ensure successful implementation.
  • Compliance & Quality Control: Adhering to legal and industry standards while performing value engineering to maintain cost efficiency.
  • Field Support & Training: Assisting in system commissioning, validation, troubleshooting, and customer training when needed.
  • Communication & Leadership: Serving as the subject matter expert in security/low voltage systems and keeping stakeholders informed of project progress.

Requirements:
  • Experience: 3+ years as a Certified Electronic Technician or 7+ years of field experience in the security industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in integrated/electronic security systems and alarm industry standards.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with Tier 1 security systems (Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon, Software House C-Cure 9000) and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Pre-Sales Engineering: Background in developing security system designs and proposals.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Must maintain a Department of Criminal Justice registration and pass background checks.
  • Travel & Work Flexibility: Willingness to travel up to 25% across VA and MD, working in a hybrid remote/in-office setup.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in security alarm subsystems, building security integration, and industry-specific engineering practices.
  • Soft Skills: Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences, collaborate with teams, and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 15 lbs. and work extended hours at a computer.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
