Next Level Technician is looking for OSP Fiber Service Technicians to join our team in Raleigh, NC. 

 

Our technicians are responsible for trouble shooting and repairing OSP buried drops.  The OSP (Outside Plant) Fiber Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of Fiber equipment in accordance with customer requirements, and company standards. OSP Fiber Service Technicians are also responsible for ensuring that customers receive the highest level of customer service.

 

 

OSP Fiber Service Technician Job Duties:
  • Troubleshoot and identify issues with existing fiber optic wiring during service calls.
  • Locate and dig to identify existing cable, perform any restoration after digging as needed.
  • Repair or replace cable as needed.
  • Installation of fiber optic cables, including running cables through conduits, splicing them, and connecting them to network equipment.
  • Splice Ribbon and loose-tube Fiber.
  • Interact with customers in a professional, courteous manner at all times and review requested services with the customer.
  • You will communicate with the supervisor and dispatch regarding work status.
  • Precisely aligning and fusing the ends of fiber cables to ensure minimal signal loss and optimal performance.
  • Use OTDR and specialized equipment to test the integrity of fiber optic connections, check signal strength, and identify any issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upgrades to ensure the fiber optic network continues to operate efficiently.
  • Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure that fiber optic installations and repairs meet company standards and customer requirements.
  • Follow safety protocols to handle fiber optic cables and related equipment properly.

 

OSP Fiber Service Technician Requirements:
  • At least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid standard Driver's License with a minimum of 2 years driving experience.
  • Clean MVR record that is deemed acceptable by the company.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed with or without assistance.
  • Flexibility to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or on-call
  • Comfortable working 3- feet above ground level
