MSO Network Technician III – Indianapolis, IN

Next Level Technician is urgently seeking an experienced MSO Network Technician III for a long-term opportunity in Indianapolis, IN. This lead technician role is ideal for professionals with advanced knowledge in network installation and troubleshooting across a variety of platforms and systems.

As a key leader on-site, the MSO Network Technician III will manage and perform installations, support transport systems, and ensure the seamless deployment and maintenance of critical network infrastructure for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the installation of fiber optic jumpers, electronic components, and secondary DC power systems

  • Install and configure network equipment and perform circuit turn-ups and validations

  • Troubleshoot a wide range of network issues independently

  • Conduct site surveys, create job documentation, and maintain A-Z job records

  • Perform structured cabling and install network hardware including:

    • Nokia Photonic Switches (PSS8, PSS16, PSS32)

    • Nokia 7250 IXRs, Juniper QFX/EX, Cisco NCS/ASR

    • Harmonic REEF, CMTS, RPHY gear, Opengear, Dell PowerEdge

  • Utilize test equipment to perform:

    • Continuity checks, DOCSIS validation, VOD stream checks, ORT, and more

  • Configure devices via IP setup, script loading, and commissioning

  • Accurately interpret engineering packages, diagrams, rack layouts

  • Use proper tools for fiber cleaning, cabling prep, labeling, and documentation

  • Create SMOPs, completion forms, and detailed BOMs for all projects

  • Work in hub, headend, ILEC, and central office environments

  • Available for both day and night shifts, including cutover and migration support

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on field experience in network installations and troubleshooting

  • At least 3 years in a lead or supervisory technician role

  • Strong understanding of CATV headend systems, Remote PHY, DAA architecture

  • Familiarity with DC power systems and structured cabling for RF, Ethernet, and Fiber

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Visio)

  • Able to work independently and follow detailed technical instructions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in Cable TV, Telco central offices, LDPOP, or MTSO systems

  • Experience preparing documentation like JCRs and SOWs

  • Advanced troubleshooting and rollback skills for critical installations
