Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Low Voltage Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and related security solutions. This role involves working on-site at various commercial and industrial locations, ensuring high-quality service delivery to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:

  • System Installation & Maintenance:

  • Install, configure, and maintain low voltage systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and intercom systems.

  • Run, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, and coaxial cabling.

  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on installed systems.

  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and resolve system malfunctions efficiently to minimize downtime.

  • Provide technical support and training to clients on system operations.

  • Project Coordination:

  • Collaborate with project managers and team members to ensure timely completion of projects.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics.

  • Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure all installations comply with local and national electrical and safety codes.

  • Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and service calls.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in low voltage systems installation and maintenance.

    • Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting access control systems, CCTV, and intrusion detection systems.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of IP networking, PoE switches, and basic network troubleshooting.

  • Ability to use tools such as cable testers, multimeters, crimpers, and punch-down tools.

  • Certifications:

  • State of Texas Security Installer License (or ability to obtain).

  • Preferred certifications: BICSI Installer/Technician, OSHA 10/30, NICET, or manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Axis, Honeywell).

  • Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

  • Willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with enterprise access control platforms (e.g., Lenel, S2, AMAG).

    • Familiarity with fire alarm systems and NFPA standards, including NFPA 70 and 72.
